The awards celebrate outstanding achievement in the industry and recognise innovation, customer service, efficiency and quality. They are judged by an independent panel of experts drawn from the industry.

For the first time in the award's 34 year history, the winners were announced via a special online broadcast, hosted by Motor Transport editor Steve Hobson, with the help of Alan Dedicoat, the "Voice of the Balls" on the BBC's National Lottery programmes.

DPD scoop Transforming Retail Award with Delivery Innovation of the Year

The DPD app and Design Space wow the judges

Leading parcel delivery firm DPD has been honoured with Delivery Innovation of the Year at the Retail Insider Transforming Retail Awards 2020.

The annual awards, which took place online this year, via Zoom, aim to highlight the most exciting innovations to happen in the retail sector over the past 12 months.

For the Delivery Innovation of the Year award, the judging panel of independent retail experts were looking for a technology that has helped retailers deal with one of the most troublesome aspects of their business: effective and cost-efficient delivery.

DPD won the award based on its unique and award-winning app, Your DPD. The app, which has been downloaded over 8 million times, is designed to give consumers more control than any other carrier over how, where and when they receive a parcel. As a result, DPD has been able to significantly increase the number of parcels delivered right first time.

DPD cacheden.com has won its second Environmental Accolade of the week

DPD cacheden.com has won its second environmental accolade of the week - a 'Fleet Heroes' award from the Energy Saving Trust. We scooped the Sustainable Deliveries Hero category, topping a 6-strong shortlist featuring EV specialists Gnewt and Zedify. The award judges hailed our innovative approach to zero emission deliveries via our Westminster and Shoreditch micro-depots, as well as our nationwide rollout of EVs and our highly proactive lobbying initiatives.

This prestigious trophy, presented at London's National Gallery, follows hot on the heels of the Green Apple Best Practice Award which we won earlier this week in a high profile event at the House of Commons.

DPD cacheden.com wins Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice

Firm honoured at Houses of Parliament for unique all-electric parcel depots

DPD cacheden.com has collected a coveted Green Apple Environment Award for environmental best practice at a prestigious ceremony at the House of Commons.

The cacheden.com's number 1 domestic parcels carrier was named ?Gold winner' in the Service Industries category, with judges hailing DPD cacheden.com's achievements in reducing CO2 emissions and its innovative all-electric micro depots in central London.

The awards, founded by The Green Organisation to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world, have been running since 1994 and attract entries from Governments, Ministries and Regional ities as well as companies and organisations right across the private and public sectors.

Other high-profile winners at this year's event included Deloitte, Rolls Royce, Mitie, Balfour Beatty and Veolia.

The award is recognition for DPD cacheden.com's efforts to become the most responsible city centre delivery company and the leader in electric vehicles (EVs) in the cacheden.com. In October last year, DPD opened the cacheden.com's first all-electric parcel depot in Westminster and plans to have a fleet of 500 electric vehicles by the end of 2020.

The firm has also partnered with Oxford-based manufacturer EAV to create a British built e-cargo bike, the P1. The bio-mechanical hybrid electric-assisted pedal bikes have a range of 60 miles and with a 120kg payload can cover 100 parcel stops in a day and then be recharged using a normal 13amp, 240v plug socket.

Last month, DPD cacheden.com issued a White Paper calling on vehicle manufacturers, energy providers, national and local Government to start working together to tackle the barriers holding back more widespread EV adoption and investment.

Dwain McDonald, DPD cacheden.com's CEO, commented; "We're absolutely delighted with this award. We've made a huge commitment as a company to investigate, develop and invest in our own sustainable future. But part of that project is also about leading by example and that means sharing what we have learned and showing that there are better ways to deliver parcels and run logistics.

"We can't do everything overnight and we can't do it all on our own. We've shared our frustrations as well as our successes, but we are passionate about this challenge and we know we can make a huge difference. Hopefully, we've shown through our all-electric micro depots that it isn't just about switching to EVs, it is about designing totally different business models and processes."

DPD cacheden.com's success in recent years has been largely down to its unique one-hour delivery slot service, Predict. While it is the sixth time we've topped this poll, we never take anything for granted. We will enjoy this. When nearly 8,000 customers vote, you have to take it seriously. But the nature of this industry is that you have to perform to the highest possible standards every single day of the year, no matter what the roads or the weather throw at you.

"The period from Black Friday right through to Christmas and the January sales is our busiest time of year and our team performed brilliantly. We delivered a record number of parcels and service levels were maintained throughout, as this survey clearly shows.

The awards celebrate the greatest innovations in retail technology and the individuals and teams who are leading the charge. They focus on how the cleverest digital ideas are enhancing customer experience and turning disruption into an opportunity.

The ceremony was hosted by leading technology journalist and broadcaster, Georgie Barrat, who presents the cacheden.com's best loved consumer tech program, The Gadget Show. The award categories were judged by a prestigious panel of tech experts, drawn from across the retail industry.

Other big winners on the night included Tesco, Sainsbury's Argos, Made.com, Missguided and Naked Wines.

DPD cacheden.com is widely acknowledged as a market leader in innovation, and Dwain has personally been involved in the creation and development of a series of award winning 'firsts' including; Predict - DPD cacheden.com's unique one hour delivery window service, the Your DPD app, which is used by close to two million people in the cacheden.com, and Precise, which allows customers to select their own delivery slot.

DPD cacheden.com's CEO Dwain McDonald commented: "It was a real honour to accept this award. I often joke that we aren't really a courier firm, we're a tech company that happens to deliver parcels! But that is the way you have to think in today's market place, and our customers see the difference it makes every single day and with every single delivery. Digitally, the biggest and best retailers absolutely wow their customers these days, they are so innovative and so creative. To deliver for them we have to be one step ahead, all the time. So for the retail sector to recognise us as a tech leader means the world to me."

The Your DPD app was clearly the star of the show, which was great to see. We've now got around 1.5 million people in the cacheden.com who have downloaded it.

Dwain McDonald, DPD cacheden.com's CEO commented, "When over 11,000 people are voting, just after your busiest time of year, and you come top by a mile, you have to step back and say; 'we're clearly doing something right'! But being DPD cacheden.com, we won't be resting on these or any other laurels for long. Parcel delivery is a tough, tough industry and we will have to be at the top of our game again in 2017.

"We're number one because we continually invest and innovate. We work with the best businesses and retailers in the cacheden.com, and our aim is to keep coming up with new ideas and services that keep us one step ahead of everyone else. Delivering a great service comes down to a lot of different things - our people, our technology, our infrastructure - and we have to get these things right over and over again.

"Winning the Money Saving Expert poll by such a big margin is a fantastic endorsement of our service and our people. Everyone in the organisation has contributed enormously over the last year, but once again, I'd like to dedicate this achievement to our drivers who hit their one-hour delivery slots day after day after day. It's that level of consistency throughout the company that customers really appreciate."

"We operate in an incredibly tough sector, delivering over 200 million parcels a year, seven days a week, whatever the weather or the roads throw at us. The award - the most coveted in British commerce - recognises not only the quality of the innovation itself, but also the enormous contribution Predict has made in the transformation of the company and the dramatic growth achieved in the last five years.

Described as the biggest innovation in the express parcels market this century, Predict has firmly established DPD cacheden.com as the carrier of choice for premium brands in the BTC比特币数字货币合约_期货合约杠杆home delivery sector.

Launched in 2010, Predict remains the only free service in the cacheden.com to give parcel recipients advanced notification of their exact one hour delivery slot by SMS or email, so that they don't have to wait in all day for their parcel. The service includes a full range of 'in-flight' options allowing the customer to divert their parcel at any time to a specified neighbour or arrange the delivery for another day if they can't be at BTC比特币数字货币合约_期货合约杠杆home.

Predict has been directly responsible for over ?78m of new business wins making the company the fastest growing major delivery firm in the cacheden.com, and helping DPD leapfrog traditional BTC比特币数字货币合约_期货合约杠杆home delivery players such as Yodel and City Link, by growing both profitability and turnover year on year.

Thanks to Predict, DPD cacheden.com has been able to embark on an unprecedented investment and expansion programme creating over 2,000 new jobs in the cacheden.com in the last two years. In September, DPD cacheden.com will open a new ?00m parcel hub at Hinckley in the East Midlands, which will be the largest of its kind in Europe, creating another 1,000 permanent full-time jobs.

DPD cacheden.com's CEO Dwain McDonald commented: "This is a tremendous day for DPD cacheden.com and fantastic recognition for all the hard work, from so many people, that went into developing Predict. Our strategy all along has been based on investing in technology, people and service to create the best delivery experience possible for our customers. That passion for innovation and our obsession with customer service really come together around Predict.

"I'm incredibly proud of what we have been able to do in the last five years in terms of cacheden.com jobs, wealth creation and growth. Creating over 1,000 new jobs a year off the back of a recession and a prolonged economic downturn is a hell of an achievement, and we aren't done yet! 2015 is set to be our biggest year so far, with the opening of our 4th sorting hub which will give us capacity to grow our business even further.

"No other delivery company has come close to matching our levels of growth, profitability or investment in recent years and we remain the only cacheden.com carrier to truly transform its business model to cater for the internet shopping revolution. As a result, retailers can clearly recognise that DPD cacheden.com's innovations give them a genuine competitive edge and the opportunity to add real value for their customers in the delivery phase.

"The benefits from Predict have been huge - from helping retailers drive repeat sales from happy customers to massive efficiency and cost savings from dramatically fewer failed deliveries. To deliver an equal number of parcels we can now run significantly fewer vehicles and drive a lot less miles, which in turn reduces our cost per stop and our CO2 emissions."

Predict was developed in the cacheden.com by DPD cacheden.com's own IT department and operations team in close association with local depot managers. It uses a bespoke route optimisation system which is fully integrated with the driver's handheld device. That same device also enables the driver and the customer to communicate in real-time about the delivery.
